1st game (vs. MSO, 0-0 )

Everything was looking good as Hanif the team captain took all the players for warm up session. Everybody was very spirited for the upcoming games as MSO is the reigning champion for the tournament and we lost to them 2-0 last year. Therefore this game is the perfect time for revenge.  The team started the game brilliantly with a couple of good chances to score unfortunately we were denied by good goalkeeping from Jason, the MSO goalkeeper and a few missed chances. The defenders of our team were solid as rocks with all of them working very hard to deny the threat from the MSO’s strikers led by former Kuala Lumpur junior team player Hemman.  Again in the second half, certainly lady luck didn’t smile on us as shots were brilliantly saved and the most glorious chance of all being with only goal post to beat, but the ball went wide instead. In the end we were satisfied with the nil-nil draw.

2nd game (vs. MSA, 1-2)

The next game against MSA didn’t start well as we conceded an early goal but the team started to build up the game play and 2 minutes before half time we manage to get the much awaited equalizer through Viral. During the second half, the team created heaps of chances to score but it was just not our day. In the end, MSA counter-attacked once and scored. We lost 2 1. Everybody was disappointed as we knew we can beat MSA but it was just not going to happen this year.

3rd game (vs. MASA, 3-2)

We won the final game against MASA with the score of 3-2 hoping that MSA would beat MSO in order for us to be the runner up for the tournament. Unfortunately MSA line-up their second team and were thrashed 7-0.

Overall: 3rd place

Again this year we end up in the third position of the overall standing but the team looked better and more organized.  No serious injury occurred during the tournament thanks to our very committed first aid girl Vivien. The opportunity to win the tournament next year will be brighter if the junior players continue to play together and train hard. Therefore, we urge junior players to participate actively in our sports events!! Laughing

Discovery Sydney

Discovery Sydney was our first major event of the semester. It was held during the first week of the semester.

SUAMS worked hand-in-hand with fellow USU societies in this event, e.g. SSS, ChocSoc, Wasabi, and Chopstick. Discovery Sydney was inspired by Amazing Race and we had checkpoints all over Sydney - Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Railway Suare, Glebe Market, Newtown, just to name a few.

DS had an overwhelming turnout, thanks to Kuan Yuen (our former Treasurer)  who captained this event. SmileThis event was indeed encouraging and was a perfect kick-start for SUAMS in Semester 1, 2009!
